The project will run for 24 months and will bring together organisations from Poland, Lithuania and Cyprus to develop an innovative educational tool against racism, stereotypes and discrimination.

🇵🇱 Stowarzyszenie Open Soul – Poland – Applicant & Coordinating Organisation

🇱🇹 MERAKI LT – Lithuania – Partner Organisation

🇨🇾 Polychoros Voroklinis – Cyprus – Partner Organisation

ACPELIA – Active Cypriot Programs and European Learning Into Acceptance will participate as an Associated Partner, working closely with Polychoros Voroklinis and coordinating with the whole international partnership in the implementation of the project.

🌍 WHAT IS PLAY AGAINST PREJUDICE?

Racism, xenophobia and discrimination remain persistent challenges across Europe. Young people are increasingly exposed to stereotypes, polarising narratives, online hate speech and different forms of social exclusion.

At the same time, youth workers and organisations need more practical, engaging and easy-to-use educational tools to address these sensitive issues.

PLAY AGAINST PREJUDICE responds to this need by bringing together young people and youth workers from Poland, Lithuania and Cyprus to develop an anti-racism educational game.

Using non-formal education, experiential learning and intercultural dialogue, the project aims to help young people:

❤️ develop empathy;🧠 strengthen critical thinking;🌍 improve intercultural understanding;🚫 recognise racism and discrimination;💬 challenge stereotypes and prejudice;🤝 become more active in building inclusive communities.

The project will ultimately produce a transferable educational game and supporting materials that can continue to be used by youth organisations, educators and youth workers across Europe.

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ ACPELIA IS LOOKING FOR 5 VOLUNTEERS!

For our contribution to PLAY AGAINST PREJUDICE, ACPELIA is creating a dedicated 5-person Volunteer Team.

We are not simply looking for people to attend one activity.

We want to create a small, active team that will follow and support the project through its different stages, contributing ideas, skills, creativity and practical work.

🔎 WHAT WILL THE VOLUNTEERS DO?

1️⃣ RESEARCH & NEEDS ANALYSIS

During the first phase of the project, our volunteers will contribute to research concerning:

  • racism and discrimination;

  • stereotypes and prejudice;

  • xenophobia;

  • hate speech and online discrimination;

  • intercultural relations;

  • social exclusion;

  • experiences and perceptions of young people.

The team will also support the collection of real-life situations and experiences that can help us better understand how racism, stereotypes and discrimination affect young people.

Volunteers may assist with focus groups, discussions, questionnaires, research and collection of examples from the Cypriot context.

The results of this work will contribute to the international Needs Analysis and will provide material for the next stage of the project.

🇨🇾 2️⃣ PREPARATION FOR THE INTERNATIONAL TRAINING

An important part of the volunteers' work will be to help prepare the Cypriot contribution to the international training and game co-creation process.

Before the training, volunteers will help:

  1. 🔎 identify important issues affecting young people in Cyprus;

  2. 📝 collect real-life situations connected with prejudice and discrimination;

  3. 💡 develop initial ideas that could be transformed into educational scenarios;

  4. 🎲 explore existing educational games and non-formal learning methods;

  5. 📚 collect useful educational material;

  6. 🗣️ discuss what young people would expect from an anti-racism educational game.

This preparatory work will be brought into the international activity and shared with the other countries.

🎲🇨🇾 3️⃣ TRANSNATIONAL TRAINING & GAME CO-CREATION

CYPRUS – MAY 2027

One of the most important milestones of PLAY AGAINST PREJUDICE will take place in Cyprus in May 2027.

During the Transnational Training & Game Co-Creation Activity, young people and youth workers from Poland, Lithuania and Cyprus will come together for an intensive international learning and creation process.

The actual co-creation of the PLAY AGAINST PREJUDICE educational game will take place during this training.

Through non-formal education, participants will work on topics such as:

🚫 Racism and discrimination

🧠 Stereotypes and prejudice

Empathy⚖️ Privilege and inequality

🌍 Intercultural dialogue

🗣️ Communication and understanding

🤝 Inclusion and diversity.

The international group will then use the research, experiences and ideas collected in the three countries to work together on:

🎲 game mechanics;

🃏 educational scenarios and cards;

📜 game rules;💬 questions and dilemmas;

🎭 role-playing situations;

🧩 challenges and learning activities;

🧪 testing different ideas and prototypes.

The main result of this international activity will be the prototype version of the anti-racism educational game together with the first draft of its facilitator guidelines.

🧪 4️⃣ LOCAL PILOT TESTING

After the international training in Cyprus, the work continues!

The prototype will be taken back into the local communities and tested with young people and youth workers.

Our volunteer team will support the implementation of local pilot-testing activities in Cyprus.

Volunteers will help:

👥 organise and support testing sessions;

🎲 introduce and test the game with different groups;

🗣️ communicate with participants;

📝 collect comments and suggestions;

📊 gather evaluation and feedback;

🔍 identify what works and what needs improvement;

💡 suggest adaptations based on the testing experience.

This phase is extremely important because the final educational game should not only look good — it must work in real youth-work environments.

📚 5️⃣ DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS

Following the testing process, the project will move towards the finalisation of its educational results.

The volunteer team may contribute ideas and material for:

🎲 the final anti-racism game;

🃏 scenarios and educational cards;

📖 facilitator materials;

📝 methodology content;

💻 digital-ready resources;

🎨 creative and visual material;

📸 photographs and videos documenting activities.

The final results are planned to include a printable game, digital-ready materials, a facilitator guide and a short methodology booklet.

📢 6️⃣ DISSEMINATION & LOCAL WORKSHOPS

Creating a good educational tool is only part of the job.

We also need to make sure that people know about it and use it!

Our volunteers will therefore support dissemination activities such as:

📱 social-media content;

📸 photographs and videos;

🎥 short digital content and reels;

📝 articles and project updates;

🏫 presentations and workshops;

👥 activities with youth organisations and community groups;

🌍 promotion of the project and Erasmus+ values;

🎲 presentation and promotion of the final game.

The project results will be shared with young people, youth workers, NGOs, schools, educators and other organisations interested in inclusion and anti-racism education.

🌱 7️⃣ FOLLOW-UP & SUSTAINABILITY

PLAY AGAINST PREJUDICE is designed to create something that remains useful after the project ends.

The educational game will be available in a printable format and freely accessible online, together with supporting resources.

Our volunteers will help us promote the continued use of the game and introduce it to new groups, organisations and youth workers.

Our aim is for the project results to become part of future youth activities, workshops, training courses and non-formal education programmes.
