In the enchanting city of Florence, three passionate youth workers/teachers/trainers of our organisation, embarked on a transformative training course aimed at enhancing the capacity of youth organizations, with a particular emphasis on cultural institutions, to embrace principles of environmental and social sustainability. This follow-up article delves into the enriching experience of this project, highlighting the workshops, collaborations, and valuable insights gained during this remarkable journey.
The training course commenced with engaging theoretical and introductive sessions that laid the foundation for understanding sustainability in a holistic manner. Participants were encouraged to explore innovative approaches and team-building activities that fostered a shared vision for a sustainable future. The workshops provided a fertile ground for exchanging ideas and forging meaningful connections among the youth workers, nurturing a sense of collective responsibility towards environmental and social challenges.
Beyond the confines of traditional training venues, the project took a novel turn by incorporating technical and handcrafted workshops in the heart and suburbs of Florence. Amidst the city's artistic aura, participants were immersed in an inspiring environment that seamlessly blended technical expertise with creative artistry. These workshops offered a unique hands-on experience, enabling youth workers to experiment with sustainable practices and develop innovative solutions to real-world issues collaborating with local artists and youth workers.
The training course reached new heights with a special collaboration with LUMEN, a renowned organization dedicated to sustainable development. This partnership proved to be a catalyst for change, enriching the project with a diverse perspective and valuable expertise. The collaboration enabled participants to witness firsthand the impact of sustainable initiatives implemented by LUMEN, igniting a spark of inspiration that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on their future work.
As the training course in Florence drew to a close, the three youth workers/teachers/trainers emerged not only with newfound knowledge but also a profound sense of purpose. Empowered with an enriched understanding of sustainability and armed with innovative ideas, they returned to their respective youth organizations as beacons of change.
The journey in Florence was much more than just a training course; it was a transformative experience that ignited a passion for sustainability in the hearts of three dedicated youth workers/teachers/trainers. The fusion of theoretical team-work learning, hands-on workshops, and collaboration with LUMEN laid the groundwork for lasting change within their respective youth organizations.
Main theme of the Project
The training course aims to increase the capacity of youth organizations, particularly cultural ones, to adopt principles of environmental and social sustainability in their activities by promoting a holistic approach that will improve youth workers' knowledge. Planned activities include meetings with local organizations, handcraft activities and workshops, including a collaboration with LUMEN.
The training course will be held in Florence, Italy, from 16th to 23rd of July. 16th July and the second half of 23rd July are considered as travel days. This project is already funded as part of a mobility plan credited by the Italian National Agency (2020-1-IT03-KA150- YOU-020752)

Participants
We are looking for participants with the following profile:
· wish to develop professionally and personally;
· over 18,
· willing to be an active participant for the entire duration of the course;
· motivated, open-minded, willing to cooperate and share from experience;
· possession of knowledge, experience and tools from previous work or projects about Environmental Sustainability with youth.
· open for reflect on their experiences in youth work related to the topic;
· desire to explore new ideas and promote media literacy among youth;
· motivation and capacity to disseminate the project result.
